EWC Asia Initiative, part of the larger PDP, is co-creating workshops in-region with alumni.
The best part about everything we’ve done is that you’ve done it with us. Alumni are staff, advisors, mentors, hosts, co-designers, and founders in all 2018 initiatives. Initiatives can happen because an alum like you says, “why don’t we have X?” So, for 2019, ask yourself and your fellow alumni, are there initiatives we’d like to propose to our cohort or wider LP alumni?
Radical partnerships is our new mantra.
To name a few, we are partnering with Earth Company in Bali, founded by APLP G8 Tomohiro “Tomo” Hamakawa; UH Shidler College of Business; Travel2Change; Pacific Resources for Education and Learning; the new Institute for Climate and Peace; the National Park Service’s Yosemite Leadership Program; and the Awesome Foundation Oahu, and we are looking forward to a 2020 initiative with the Giant Steps’s Music Action Lab. We are in conversation with many LP alumni now about new partnerships with their organizations, and encourage even more alumni to reach out with new ideas.
Publications by Fellows, Alumni and Staff
We set a goal and met it this year to support fellows and alumni, as well as do our own publishing, whether peer reviewed of self-published. Here are some highlights:
PILP, INRM, and APLP fellows have been self-publishing on LinkedIn. Some great examples:
Alumni have also published this year on East-West Center platforms: Asia Matters for America and the Asia Pacific Bulletin:
Get Involved!
How can 2019 be even better than 2018? That’s where you come in. Several ways to join in the fun:
-
Ask a colleague to apply to APLP (by March 1)
-
Mentor an incoming fellow. Follow our FB page to learn who they are
-
Write a case study on LinkedIn using the above examples. Tag them #EWCLP and share in our LinkedIn group. Or submit a piece to EWC’s AMA or AP Bulletin
-
Start thinking about panel and workshop presentations for the 2020 EWCA Conference in Honolulu, June 30-July 2
-
Meet up with us or organize an LP gathering in your community. Check out our 2019 calendar below to see where we are!
